Giza Pyramid Complex

The last survivor of the ancient wonders, aligned to true north with an error of a fraction of one degree.

PeriodThe megalith builders

The Great Pyramid of Khufu was the tallest human structure on Earth for nearly 4,000 years. Its 2.3 million blocks are set with astonishing precision: the base is level to within 2 cm, and its sides align to the cardinal points more accurately than almost any modern building. The complex, including Khafre, Menkaure and the Sphinx, sits at the exact edge where the Nile valley meets the desert plateau.

Notable facts

  1. The pyramid's original height (146.6 m) and perimeter encode a close approximation of 2π, and its slope closely approximates the golden ratio — debated as intent vs. consequence of construction method.
  2. Its latitude, 29.9792° N, is famously close to the speed of light in m/s (299,792,458) — a celebrated coincidence.
  3. Shafts in the King's and Queen's chambers have been argued to point toward Orion's Belt and Sirius at the epoch of construction — Badawy and Trimble for the King's Chamber, Robert Bauval later for the Queen's — an idea still debated, not least because the Queen's Chamber shafts never reach the outside.

Through the theories

Sky AlignmentsEstablished science

Aligned to true north within 3/60ths of a degree; the Orion Correlation Theory (Bauval) maps the three pyramids to Orion's Belt.

Sacred GeometryA spectrum

The canonical case: π and φ ratios, the 'squared circle', and seked geometry all appear in its proportions. Whether by design or by-product of measuring with rolling drums is the core debate.

Ley LinesMostly chance

The anchor point of Jim Alison's proposed 'great circle' alignment linking Easter Island, Nazca, Petra, Persepolis and Angkor along a single ring around the planet.

Lost WorldRejected by mainstream

The Sphinx water-erosion hypothesis (Schwaller de Lubicz, Schoch) would push its carving back to a wetter, pre-dynastic epoch thousands of years earlier.

Earth GridNo measurable evidence

Node 1 of the Russian (Goncharov–Morozov–Makarov) and Becker–Hagens planetary grids. Christopher Dunn's 'Giza Power Plant' hypothesis reimagines it as a resonant energy machine.

AstronautsNo physical evidence

From Orion correlation to Sitchin's landing beacon: the Great Pyramid is the genre's north star.
