Who we are
Ancient Alignment (ancientalignment.com) is run by Joe Newman in the United Kingdom. For anything to do with your data, email hello@ancientalignment.com.
Analytics
We use Umami to count visits and see which pages and links are popular. Umami doesn't use cookies, doesn't store your IP address, and doesn't track you across other websites. It records things like the page you viewed, the site that referred you, your browser type, country, and which buttons were clicked (for example, opening the globe). We only ever see totals.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Render, and its domain runs through Cloudflare. Like any web service, they process your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, and may keep it briefly in server logs. Fonts and the code libraries the globe uses are served from this site itself, so viewing a page doesn't send your details to Google or other third-party servers.
Links to other sites
Pages link out to Wikipedia, Viator (tours) and Amazon (books), among others. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and once you follow a link their policies apply, not ours.
If you email us, we keep the message and your address only to reply and to act on what you've asked, such as a correction. We delete it on request.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email us for any of these. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If this policy changes, for example when affiliate programmes are added, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
